Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers is a cooperative effort between the police departments of Silicon Valley, local media, and a Board of Directors comprised of local citizens. Crime Stoppers operates a 24-hour telephone line, (408) 947-STOP (7867), for citizens to report crimes or criminal activity anonymously. This program allows citizens with information about serious crime to report it without giving their name. Tips resulting in an arrest of suspects entitle the caller (identified by a code number given to them) to a cash reward. Citizens are urged to call (408) 947 – STOP if they have information on any other serious crime. Rewards up to $1,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest.



Fatal Shooting in South San Jose

The San Jose Police Department is currently investigating the city’s sixth homicide of 2012. On 3/8/2012, at approximately 7:05 P.M., the San Jose Police Department’s Communications Center received 9-1-1 calls stating that a male had been shot in the 5100 block of Monterey Road. Arriving officers located an adult male victim that had been shot mulitple times. The victim was transported to Regional Medical Center via ambulance. The victim was pronounced deceased at 10:36 P.M.

The San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively working the case. The motive behind the killing remains under investigation. No suspects have been arrested in this case. No further information is being released at this time.
