Teenage pedestrian dies after being struck in San Jose

A teenager was killed Saturday night after she was struck by two cars on Branham Lane in San Jose, police reported.

Police have not released the identity of the victim, who is believed to be in her mid- to late teens, Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, police officers and firefighters responded to calls about a collision on Branham between Pearl Avenue and La Crescent Loop. The young woman, who may have been crossing the road between intersections, had been struck by a four-door Honda Civic and a compact Mazda3. The drivers of both cars stopped and have been cooperating with police, Dwyer said.

Police are investigating the collisions and do not have indications that either driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
